Photo retouching isn’t something that is done only to pictures of Angelina Jolie. Brad Pitt needs it just as much. Sure, guys don’t need blush, lip gloss and eye shadow, but we, too, come with human imperfections, like wrinkles, baggy eyes, hair loss, big noses and thin lips, just to name a few.
I get pictures of women for retouching far more often than pictures of men. I don’t know if that’s because of my demographic or just because women tend to be more vain eager to look good. Anyway, sometimes guys do send me their photos which is nice for a change.
Mouse over for the before:
The photo was also cropped and rotated slightly, which the mouse over doesn’t show. Here is the original before Photoshop and here is the after.

Great work! You are truly talented, I will be back for more to learn!
Looks great! The guy must be really happy when he saw the “after” pic

looks great. If you have any tutorial on guiding us how to make it via photoshop then it will be great! I’m sure the first one who vote for it
Another great edit, good stuff! I like the glow effect for the bg, and I’m glad to see that his natural complexion was cleaned up, not plasticked over. This is a very believable edit.
Wow. You did a fabulous job!
well done. i even like the way you’ve presented it by moving your mouse over the photo. very creative!
very nicely done. i wish i could learn to do the same. i hope you can point me to some easy step by step online sites or tutorials so that i can be well on my way to learning how to do it like you do.
cheers! and oh btw, dropped you an ecard.
@Lou: Yeah, the plastic effect doesn’t look good on guys and based on feedback I’ve gotten, it doesn’t really look good on women, either.
@vickie, @Borski and Nai:
This Clear Skin tutorial should get you started. I applied the glow effect (step 2) to the background only and desaturated it a little bit. For reshaping stuff, I used the warp tool : Select an area > right-click > Layer via Copy > Ctrl+T > right-click > Warp. And don’t forget to adjust Color Balance, Selective Color, Curves, Brightness/Contrast, Levels and Hue/Saturation. Hope that helps.
